Iran launches new wave of attacks on Israeli and US bases as Israel strikes Lebanon

Iran launched a fresh wave of attacks on Israeli and US military bases on Thursday morning, escalating tensions across the Middle East. The strikes came after Iran warned it would target military and economic infrastructure in response to intensified bombardment by the United States and Israel. The situation worsened after a US Navy submarine reportedly sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean.
Air raid sirens were heard across Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as Israel reported multiple incoming missiles. Iranian state television claimed that several US bases in the region were also targeted during the new round of attacks.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it carried out targeted airstrikes in Lebanon, focusing on positions linked to the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The conflict began on Saturday when the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran, targeting its leadership, missile systems and nuclear facilities. Since then, the objectives and timeline of the military campaign have remained unclear, raising fears of a prolonged regional war.
Heavy bombardment on Wednesday was so intense that Iranian state television announced the postponement of a planned mourning ceremony for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed at the start of the conflict.
