India Enters Second Phase of the Century with Strong Foundations, Says President Murmu in Budget Session Address
Addressing the joint sitting of Parliament during the Budget Session, President Droupadi Murmu said that India has entered the second phase of the 21st century in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s journey. She noted that the first 25 years of the century concluded with notable successes, proud achievements, and valuable experiences for the country.
The President highlighted that over the past 10–11 years, India has worked to strengthen its foundations across multiple sectors, laying the groundwork for long-term growth and development. Emphasising the guiding principles of the Constitution, she recalled Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s strong advocacy for equality and social justice.
President Murmu said the Constitution continues to inspire the nation, stressing that true social justice can only be achieved when every citizen is assured their full rights without any form of discrimination. Her address underlined the government’s commitment to inclusive progress and constitutional values as India moves forward into the next phase of the century.
