An avalanche struck the popular tourist destination of Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir late Tuesday night, officials confirmed, adding that no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to authorities, the avalanche occurred at around 10:12 pm in Sonamarg, located in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Despite the intensity of the event, no loss of life or injuries were reported.
Officials noted that the district had been placed under a high-danger avalanche warning earlier this week, urging caution in vulnerable areas. The incident came amid widespread moderate to heavy snowfall across Sonamarg and several other parts of the Kashmir Valley over the past 24 hours.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, advising residents and tourists to remain alert as adverse weather conditions persist in the region.
