Jammu–Srinagar Highway Partially Reopens After Snowfall, Clearance Operations Ongoing

Officials told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that priority is being given to stranded light motor vehicles (LMVs) at multiple points in Qazigund to reduce congestion and ensure safe passage. Snow clearance work is underway on vulnerable stretches of the highway, while salt and urea are being spread at identified locations to prevent skidding and improve road conditions.
Authorities said the highway will be reopened in a phased manner, depending on weather conditions and safety assessments. Commuters have been advised to avoid non-essential travel and strictly follow official traffic advisories before planning their journey.
Meanwhile, flight operations at Srinagar Airport resumed on Wednesday morning after being temporarily suspended due to poor visibility caused by snowfall. Officials confirmed that both arrivals and departures are now operating on schedule, providing relief to stranded passengers. Travelers have been advised to stay in contact with airlines for updates as weather conditions in the region remain unpredictable.
