In his letter, Trump described it as a “great honour” to invite Prime Minister Modi to participate in efforts to consolidate peace in the Middle East and advance a new global approach to conflict resolution. The proposed Board of Peace is part of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
According to US officials, the board is envisioned as an international platform to promote stability, reconstruction and long-term security in Gaza and surrounding regions. Trump also referred to his earlier announcement made on September 29, which outlined a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, including a 20-point roadmap for peace in the Middle East.
The plan proposes transforming Gaza into a demilitarised and deradicalised territory to ensure it does not pose a security threat to neighbouring countries, while paving the way for sustained regional peace.
