JKSA Urges Amit Shah to Revoke FIRs, Suspension of 50 Kashmiri Students at Mewar University
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging immediate intervention to revoke FIRs and suspension orders issued against more than 50 Kashmiri students studying at Mewar University in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.
In the letter, the association highlighted the growing distress among Kashmiri students enrolled in the 5th semester of the B.Sc. Nursing programme at the university. The students recently discovered that the course in which they were admitted allegedly does not have the mandatory approvals from the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC), which regulate nursing education in India.
JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami said the students are set to complete their degree programme within the next four months but are now facing severe anxiety over the validity of their qualifications and future career prospects. If the programme is indeed unapproved, their degrees may not be recognised for professional registration, putting several years of academic effort and financial investment at risk.
According to Khuehami, the students were admitted under a scholarship scheme funded by the Indian Army. Having already completed several semesters, they have invested significant time and resources in the programme. However, the recent revelations regarding the course approval have created serious uncertainty about the legitimacy of their degrees.
