Major Governors’ reshuffle: R N Ravi to Bengal, V K Saxena appointed LG of Ladakh
A major administrative reshuffle of Governors and Lieutenant Governors was announced on Thursday by Droupadi Murmu, just ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
According to an official communiqué from Rashtrapati Bhavan, R N Ravi, who was serving as Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed the new Governor of West Bengal following the resignation of C V Ananda Bose.
In another key move, Vinai Kumar Saxena has been transferred from his post as Lieutenant Governor of Delhi to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Former diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
Other changes include Shiv Pratap Shukla moving from Himachal Pradesh to take charge as Governor of Telangana, while Jishnu Dev Varma has been shifted from Telangana to become Governor of Maharashtra.
Senior leader Nand Kishore Yadav has been appointed Governor of Nagaland, while Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain will serve as Governor of Bihar.
Additionally, former Ladakh LG Kavinder Gupta has been appointed Governor of Himachal Pradesh, and Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, currently Governor of Kerala, will hold additional charge as Governor of Tamil Nadu.
The appointments will take effect once the respective appointees assume charge of their offices.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed the newly appointed LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu and expressed confidence that his diplomatic experience would contribute to the capital’s development. She also appreciated the work of outgoing LG Vinai Kumar Saxena and wished him success in his new role in Ladakh.
