Govt examining proposal to hike honorarium of legislators’ personal assistants: CM Omar Abdullah
The Jammu and Kashmir government is examining a proposal to increase the monthly honorarium of personal assistants engaged with legislators in the Union Territory, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
In a written reply to a question raised by Congress MLA Tariq Hameed Karra, the Chief Minister said that a proposal for enhancing the honorarium has been received from the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department. He added that the proposal is currently under examination by the Finance Department.
Karra had sought details on whether personal assistants attached to legislators had demanded an increase in their monthly honorarium, along with additional entitlements such as travelling and daily allowances at par with the staff of other parliamentarians, and the timeline for considering the demand.
