Kashmiri Shawl Seller Injured in Uttarakhand Mob Attack, Suffers Fractures and Head Injuries
According to a statement issued by the JKSA, the young boy was allegedly attacked by a group of fringe elements, beaten severely, and left with multiple injuries across his body. His left arm was fractured, and he sustained serious head injuries after being struck with iron rods. He was initially taken to a local hospital and later referred to Doon Hospital in Dehradun for further treatment. The association said the victim was bleeding profusely from the head following the assault.
The association further stated that family members informed them that the attackers first questioned the boy about his identity. Upon learning that the family belonged to the Muslim community and hailed from Kashmir, the violence reportedly intensified. The youth was repeatedly punched, while other family members were dragged, slapped, and assaulted with iron rods.
Describing the incident as a chilling example of growing communal profiling and mob violence, the JKSA said the youth was only trying to support his family by earning a dignified livelihood during the harsh winter months. “An 18-year-old selling shawls to help his family was met not with compassion, but with hatred,” the association said.
