Court Permits MP Engineer Rashid to Attend Parliament on Custody Parole

The Patiala House Courts in Delhi have allowed Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Engineer Rashid, to attend the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament beginning January 28, subject to previously imposed conditions.
Welcoming the order, the Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) said the permission was granted by the court of Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma, which allowed Engineer Rashid to attend the session on custody parole.
AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said the issue of travel expenses would remain subject to the final outcome of the appeal pending before the Delhi High Court. He clarified that Engineer Rashid will attend the Parliament session while remaining in custody, strictly in accordance with court directions.
Describing the decision as significant, Inam Un Nabi said the party views it as an important step to ensure that the people of the Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency are not denied their democratic representation in Parliament.
He also informed that Engineer Rashid was represented before the court by advocates Vikhyat Oberoi, Nishita Gupta, Shivam Prakash and Ravi.
