High-Danger Avalanche Warning Issued for 6 J&K Districts After Fresh Snowfall

Officials said avalanches with a high-danger level are likely to occur above 2,300 metres in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir over the next 24 hours. A similar high-risk avalanche warning has been issued for areas above 2,500 metres in several districts of the Jammu region, including Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban, as well as Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
Residents, tourists and trekkers have been advised to remain extremely cautious and strictly avoid movement in avalanche-prone areas during the warning period.
The alert comes after most parts of Jammu and Kashmir experienced moderate to heavy snowfall earlier in the day, increasing the risk of snow slides in high-altitude regions. Authorities said continuous monitoring is underway and further advisories will be issued if weather conditions worsen.
