LG Sinha inaugurates revamped pedestrian-only Amira Kadal bridge in Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday inaugurated the newly revamped Amira Kadal bridge over the Jhelum River in Srinagar. Redeveloped under the Srinagar Smart City project, the bridge has been redesigned exclusively for pedestrian use to ensure safer and smoother connectivity between Lal Chowk and nearby commercial hubs.
Officials said the project blends modern urban planning with heritage aesthetics as part of the larger riverfront development initiative, aimed at strengthening infrastructure while preserving Srinagar’s cultural identity. The inauguration was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, senior police and civil administration officials, and the MLA from Lal Chowk.
