Iran Protest Death Toll Rises to at Least 646: Rights Group

The death toll from Iran’s nationwide protests has climbed to at least 646, according to activists, with the number likely to increase further. The figures were released on Tuesday by the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, which has tracked casualties during multiple waves of demonstrations over the years.
The organisation relies on a network of sources inside Iran to verify reported deaths. However, due to severe communication restrictions and internet blockades imposed by Iranian authorities, independent verification of the figures has not been possible.
Iran’s government has so far not released any official data on casualties linked to the protests. (AP)
