BCCI DIRECTS KKR TO RELEASE BANGLADESH PACER MUSTAFIZUR RAHMAN FOR IPL 2026

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the IPL franchise owned by Shah Rukh Khan, to release Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from its squad ahead of the IPL 2026 season.
According to BCCI officials, the decision has been taken in view of recent developments and prevailing circumstances. The board has also clarified that KKR will be allowed to name a replacement player if it chooses to do so.
BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said the franchise was formally informed about the decision. “Considering the current situation, the BCCI has asked KKR to release Bangladesh player Mustafizur Rahman from their squad. The board has also conveyed that any request for a replacement player will be permitted,” Saikia stated.
The move is seen as part of the board’s administrative measures, with further details expected to be communicated to the franchise in due course.
