Economic Survey 2026 to Be Tabled Today; GDP Growth Outlook in Focus Ahead of Union Budget
The government is set to table the Economic Survey 2026 in Parliament on Thursday, setting the stage for the Union Budget 2026–27 scheduled to be presented on February 1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to present the Survey around noon, offering an official assessment of the country’s economic performance amid ongoing global uncertainties.
The Economic Survey will be closely watched for India’s projected GDP growth estimates for the current fiscal year (FY26) and the upcoming financial year (FY27). Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran has already hinted at key economic themes in a recent media column, touching upon issues such as rupee depreciation, geopolitical volatility, and global economic headwinds.
The Budget Session of Parliament began on Wednesday with President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the President’s Address as comprehensive and forward-looking, saying it effectively articulated the vision of building a Viksit Bharat and reflected the collective aspiration for a strong and self-reliant India.
