LG Sinha says revamped Amira Kadal blends Srinagar’s heritage with modern facilities

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the revamped bridge, Sinha said the project, taken up under the Srinagar Smart City initiative, reflects the administration’s focus on integrating traditional character with contemporary infrastructure. He noted that the redesign work on the historic bridge began in 2023 and has now been dedicated to the people of Srinagar.
“The aim under the Smart City project is to link our ancient heritage with modern facilities so that culturally vibrant spaces are created in the city,” the Lieutenant Governor said. He added that similar efforts are being made through pedestrian pathways, riverfront developments and parks to revive Srinagar’s long-standing connection with its traditions.
Sinha said the completion of such projects would help restore the historic linkage between Srinagar’s commercial hub and the old city area of Shehar-e-Khaas, strengthening both cultural identity and urban connectivity.
