The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has successfully restored connectivity on the 112-kilometre-long Kishtwar\u2013Sansari road, reconnecting Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s Doda-Kishtwar region with Himachal Pradesh\u2019s Lahaul-Spiti area after heavy snowfall.
The restoration was carried out by the 118 Road Construction Company under Project Sampark, despite extreme weather conditions and snow accumulation of up to five feet. The road, which passes through high-altitude areas rising to 8,759 feet, was blocked multiple times due to repeated snowfall between January 22 and 27.
BRO teams launched intensive snow-clearance operations and managed to reopen the road fully within 72 hours, ensuring the resumption of traffic. The organisation is also continuing snow-clearance work on the Mughal Road to restore connectivity between the Jammu and Kashmir regions.
