People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed Para on Thursday expressed deep concern over the cancellation of affiliation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Medical College, saying the move raises serious questions about coexistence, inclusivity, and the future of higher education in Jammu and Kashmir.
Reacting to the decision, Para said the withdrawal of affiliation was not merely an administrative matter but one that has far-reaching social and political implications. He said such actions risk undermining trust and harmony in a region that has already faced years of uncertainty.
\u201cThe cancellation of affiliation of a medical college raises a fundamental question about coexistence and equal opportunities,\u201d Para said, adding that education should remain above political or ideological considerations. Para expressed concern for the students who secured admission on merit after clearing competitive examinations like NEET, saying their future must not be jeopardised due to policy or regulatory actions.
