The Government introduced a new\u00a0registration mark\u00a0for new\u00a0vehicles under the \u201cBharat series\u00a0(BH-series)\u201d to facilitate seamless transfer of\u00a0vehicles, informed Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cGovernment has taken a host of citizen centric steps to facilitate mobility. An IT based solution for\u00a0vehicle\u00a0registration is one such effort. However, one of the pain points in the\u00a0vehicle\u00a0registration process that needed attention was re-registration of a\u00a0vehicle\u00a0while moving to another state,\u201d said the Ministry in a statement.<\/p>\n

Station relocation occurs with both Government and private sector employees. Such movements create a sense of unease in the minds of such employees with regard to transfer of registration from the parent state to another state as, under section 47 of the\u00a0vehicles-act\u201d>Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, a person is allowed to keep the\u00a0vehicle\u00a0for not more than 12 months in any state other than the state where the\u00a0vehicle\u00a0is registered, but a new registration with the new state- registering authority has to be made within the stipulated time of 12 months.<\/p>\n

A passenger\u00a0vehicle\u00a0user takes steps to re-register a\u00a0vehicle\u00a0including no objection certificate from the Parent State for assignment of a new\u00a0registration mark\u00a0in another state; Assignment of new\u00a0registration mark\u00a0after the road tax on prorata basis is paid in the new State and Application for refund of the road tax in the parent State on pro rata basis.<\/p>\n

This provision to get a refund from the parent State on a pro rata basis is a very cumbersome process and varies from one State to another.
\nIn order to facilitate seamless transfer of\u00a0vehicles, the\u00a0Ministry of Road Transport and Highways\u00a0vide notification dated August 26, 2021, has introduced a new\u00a0registration mark\u00a0for new\u00a0vehicles i.e. \u201cBharat series\u00a0(BH-series)\u201d. A\u00a0vehicle\u00a0bearing this\u00a0registration mark\u00a0shall not require the assignment of a new\u00a0registration mark\u00a0when the owner of the\u00a0vehicle\u00a0shifts from one State to another.<\/p>\n

This\u00a0vehicle\u00a0registration facility under \u201cBharat series\u00a0(BH-series)\u201d will be available on voluntary basis to Defense personnel, employees of Central Government\/ State Government\/ Central\/ State Public Sector Undertakings and private sector companies\/organizations, which have their offices in four or more States\/Union territories.The motor\u00a0vehicle\u00a0tax will be levied for two years or in multiple of two.<\/p>\n

This scheme will facilitate the free movement of personal\u00a0vehicles across States\/UTs of India upon relocation to a new State\/UT. After completion of the fourteenth year, the motor\u00a0vehicle\u00a0tax shall be levied annually which shall be half of the amount which was charged earlier for that\u00a0vehicle.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
