Congress’s political slogans cannot mislead people: Sat Sharma

BJP seminar on ‘Save Democracy, Eliminate Anarchy’ calls for strengthening public faith in democratic institutions

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu Border District organized a seminar on the theme “Save Democracy, Eliminate Anarchy”, bringing together intellectuals, prominent citizens, representatives of various sections of society and party workers to discuss the importance of safeguarding democratic institutions and upholding the sanctity of the electoral process.

J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma (CA), accompanied by MLA Rajiv Bhagat, former MLA Ashwani Sharma and Jammu Border District President Rinku Choudhary, addressed the gathering.

Strongly criticizing the Congress party’s political approach, Sat Sharma said that the opposition party repeatedly resorts to new slogans and campaigns in an attempt to mislead the public, without offering constructive solutions to the issues confronting the nation.

“The Congress party continues to revolve around its single family, making repeated attempts to relaunch the most privileged person through one political campaign after another. Sometimes it organizes a yatra, sometimes it raises a new slogan, but its campaigns fizzle out before gaining any real public traction,” Sat Sharma said.

Sharma emphasized that being citizens of the world’s largest democracy carries a collective responsibility to protect the credibility of democratic institutions and respect the people’s mandate. He called upon intellectuals, professionals, community representatives and political workers to counter misinformation and strengthen public confidence in India’s constitutional framework.

Rajiv Bhagat said that the voter is supreme in a democracy and that making allegations against the electoral process without credible evidence undermines the wisdom of the electorate. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and actively participate in strengthening democratic awareness at the grassroots level.

Ashwani Sharma stressed that responsible political conduct, transparency, informed public participation and respect for constitutional institutions are essential pillars of a vibrant democracy.

Rinku Choudhary said the BJP would continue to encourage constructive, fact-based public discourse through such initiatives.

Congress spreading misleading narrative on SIR, BJP to take its stand to the people: Billawaria

Basohli, 29 October 2026:

J&K BJP General Secretary Baldev Singh Billawaria asserted that the Congress and its allies are spreading a misleading narrative on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to create confusion among the people, announcing that the BJP would counter this campaign through a padyatra in Kathua on October 31.

Billawaria, who is also the incharge of the Kathua padyatra was addressing an organizational meeting at Mahanpur, Basohli, convened to review party activities and finalize preparations for the upcoming padyatra against the Congress’s allegations of “vote chori.” District President Gopal Krishna, MLA Darshan Singh, MLA Satish Sharma, DDC member Narayan Dutt Tripathi, Vikram Singh, and Mandal President Narita Devi participated in the meeting.

Billawaria called upon party leaders and workers to ensure its successful organization and effectively communicate the facts surrounding electoral roll revision to the public. While emphasizing the importance of SIR in maintaining clean and credible electoral rolls, he said that the revision process was not new and had been undertaken since the Congress era. He pointed out that electoral rolls require periodic revision to account for deaths, migration and duplicate entries, ensuring that every eligible citizen’s voting rights are protected.

Billawaria questioned the Congress’s allegations of large-scale electoral irregularities, arguing that changes in voter lists cannot automatically be portrayed as electoral fraud when names may be removed or corrected for legitimate reasons. He accused the Congress of creating unnecessary suspicion about democratic institutions instead of acknowledging the need for accurate electoral rolls.

Billawaria asserted that the integrity of Indian democracy depended on ensuring that every eligible Indian citizen could exercise the right to vote freely and fairly. He stressed that electoral processes must protect genuine voters and prevent any misuse of voting rights.

He further said that the October 31 padyatra would serve as an opportunity for the BJP to expose what it described as the Congress’s misleading campaign and reaffirm its commitment to transparent electoral processes.

Kathua District President Gopal Krishan said that party workers across the district would work collectively to make the padyatra successful and strengthen public awareness on the issue.

The meeting was attended by district and mandal office-bearers, MLAs, DDC and BDC members, sarpanches, and Morcha presidents. BJP J&K Seh-Prabhari Reena Kashyap and other senior leaders are expected to participate in the Kathua padyatra.

Congress losing ground under Rahul Gandhi, repeated electoral setbacks expose leadership crisis: Dr. Pardeep

Jammu, 29 October 2026:

Congress, under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, has increasingly lost touch with ground realities, with its repeated electoral setbacks reflecting a growing disconnect between its political narrative and the aspirations of the people, stated Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, J&K BJP Media Incharge.

Referring to the Congress party’s reported poor performance in the recent elections to 28 MLC seats across four states, Dr. Pardeep said that the opposition party must introspect instead of persisting with a politics that fails to address people’s concerns. He said that consecutive electoral disappointments should prompt Congress to reassess its leadership, priorities and approach towards public service.

Drawing a contrast between the Congress’s political record and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service, Dr. Pardeep said that PM Modi’s journey reflects a sustained commitment to national development, public welfare and the transformation of India. From his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister to leading the country as Prime Minister, Modi has consistently worked towards expanding opportunities, strengthening infrastructure and advancing the vision of a developed India.

“Today, the world looks at India with hope, confidence and growing respect. Under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as an increasingly important global partner, and Indians across the world take pride in their nation’s growing stature,” Mahotra said.

Dr. Pardeep asserted that the Congress’s continued political decline must be viewed against the backdrop of decades of family-centric politics, allegations of corruption and what he described as a lack of sensitivity towards ordinary citizens. He said that political parties cannot retain public confidence merely through criticism and slogans; they must demonstrate accountability, credible leadership and a commitment to public welfare.

Dr. Pardeep called upon the Congress and other opposition parties to draw lessons from electoral outcomes and adopt a constructive approach towards national development. He said that rather than obstructing progress for political gains, the opposition should contribute meaningfully to the collective mission of building a stronger, more prosperous and self-reliant India.
