The Indian rupee reached a fresh low on Wednesday and weakened past the 73 mark against the US dollar for the first time after crude oil prices surged to nearly $85 per barrel, a four-year high. The currency opened at 73.25 per dollar and touched 73.34 after Monday’s close of 72.91. On Tuesday, markets were closed due to Gandhi Jayanti.
